"You're As Pretty As a Picture" (1938)
While hanging around 1938, we run into this lovely sheet muisc for a movie starring another teenage singing star – Deanna Durbin in “That Certain Age” from Universal.
It’s interesting that Deanna was a bigger star right out of the gate than Judy Garland after they had both appeared in a short for MGM but the studio let Deanna slip away to Universal.
In any event, here’s the song “You’re As Pretty As a Picture” as recorded by Gene Krupa and his band with Irene Daye on the vocal:
This was an early recording date for Gene and his new band after he had left Benny Goodman’s band, but they already sound great!
